Hi all
I have kenwood car amp KAC-M845 which has the following specs
Maximum Power Output
• 720W
Rated Power Output (14.4V )
• 60W x 4 at 4ohms (20-20kHz 1.0% THD)
• 90W x 4 at 2ohms (1kHz 1.0% THD)
• 180W x2 at Bridged 4ohms (1kHz 1.0%THD)
Can I use it to run Sony 12 Inch 300W In-Car Subwoofer (XS-GTX122LT)
Power Output 300W
Diameter 12inch (30cm)
Speaker System Subwoofer
Peak Input Power (W) 1350W

Appreciate your help

Hi,
The amp should work just fine. Just need to bridge 2 of the channels for 180 watts. You'll need to double check that the subwoofer is wired for 4 ohm load. The amp is only stable down to a 4 ohm load when bridged. Hope that's what you needed.
Regards,
Matt

Thanks for your quick reply
But as per the specs of the amp the bridged connection output only gives 180w and the subwoofer needs 300w? Am I missing someting?
Sorry I'm new to these things

They don't have to match. You can run a 300w woofer on a 10,000 watt amp but you'd have to be very careful not to damage the woofer. You can run a 1000w woofer off of 20w output of a head unit but don't expect a lot of output.

Thanks a lot for the information, correct me if I'm wrong if I connected my amp to the mentioned Sony subwoofer I will be getting maximum wattage of my bridged connection which is 180W from the subwoofer (when I put the amp on max. level).
Excuse my ignorance 😱😱
The gain setting has nothing to do with the power output. With a head unit capable of producing enough signal, the amp could be driven to full power, no matter the gain setting. Read the following:
