evening

suddenly got a very dull sounding tweeter on one of my concord 4's
I can test the crossover ok, but anyone have any idea what the resistence of the tweeter coil should be if i was to measure the resistance? (SP 1074)

had trouble over the years with kef tweeters generaly, so im not supprised if it has gone

cheers 👍

Looks like an old Vifa D25 to me.

Should measure around 6 ohms, without looking it up.

Possibly dried up ferrofluid. You can probably take it apart for inspection if you are careful.

The old 1.5V penlight battery test usually tells you something. Should crackle a bit.

If you are in full fault-finding mode, look for cracked solder joints on the circuit board, and consider old 50V NPE non-polar electrolytic capacitors suspect.

Tighten up all the wiring and strip wires back to fresh metal if appropriate.

I usually push the bass cones in gently and listen for voiceoil rubbing too. You can often rotate a rubbing unit 90 degrees for a quick fix.

Film capacitors, coils and resistors are usually tough as old boots, and will show scorch marks if damaged.
