As a vintage audio fan I bought years ago a pair of KEF Cadenza speakers. They where in good condition, the rubber surrounds are still ok. As many Cadenzas the tweeters are blown. I tried several replacements but was never satisfied so they ended up in a dark corner. They came back to my mind recently thinking what I could do with them.
The woofer used in these can go pretty low and hearing them play with the wrong tweeter I heard some good potential in them.
Would it be an option to rebuild them as monitors using the B200 woofer and another tweeter ? Has it been done before ?

I've been using some SEAS H1280-06 22TFF tweeters in place of Kef T27 in my chorale knock offs (paired with some B200 SP1063) and they have integrated quite well. They ideally need to have around 3-4dB knocked off them to integrate perfectly. (in my case this requires a 2R resistor in series and a 12R resistor in parallel to knock 3.5dB off without affecting the impedance)
At least some KEF crossovers have had topbooster for the T27 to compensate for a falling top octave. Replacing the T27 with a flat tweeter in such a crossover, will result in a "tizzy" high range. If you got the DN14 SP1019 it is a third order filter with no tweeking of the tweeter (Item Description: KEF Electronics DN14 SP1019 Crossover)
Has it been done before? Apparently, yes...😉As a vintage audio fan I bought years ago a pair of KEF Cadenza speakers. They where in good condition, the rubber surrounds are still ok. The Morel CAT298 is a perfectly good replacement, as is the SEAS 27 TFFC with an attenuator.

Note they are wired out of phase at the tweeter, blue being hot. The capacitors will have aged are are best replaced with new non-polar electrolytic, or polypropylene if they fit.

Hey, Kei, it's the same treble filter as your KEF Chorale's, though the level may be affected by the exact detail of the bass filter. As we said before, the second 5uF (or 4.7uF...) can be lost and the tweeter wired the other way. 🙂
I really have no idea why people hunt around on eBay for some old worn out tweeter when they can buy a modern, better replacement. 😕
