Hi all
New to this forum so hope i'm posting this in the right section.
I'm looking for help or advice on opamp selection for my Karan ka180 int amp, just fancy a bit of opamp rolling .
The problem is i cannot identify what type they are single, dual, etc.
The only infomation on the opamps is
BB 1AZQDYW (six of these in total ,three left channel three right channel, located to the rear of the amp).
Also
BB 0101224 (four of these, two per channel located more to the front of the amp).
I presume BB is Burr Brown but theres no usual (for e.g. BB OPA 627bp).
It allso seems that this type of part number has been erased or smudged out of the opamp, this must have been Karan them selves, may be to keep the components they use secret.
They are push in type so swapping them should be straight forward.
Not unhappy with the amp at all ,it is very good as it is. Just you know how it is we all like to tweek a bit dont we🙂?
But not at the exspence of screwing me amp😡!
Any help would appreciated! Thanks!!

If you can say the serial number I may be able to help, but my guess is that Milan has removed the type number exactly to prevent damaging of his amp by placing an inferior OpAmp's .
Actually I am trying to figure out whether you have mk1 or mk2 version.
Kind regards, Zoran Filipovic, Karan Acoustics importer in Benelux

Hi, the opamps in the input stage of the KA i180 (without MKx) are OPA2604.
If you measure the rail voltages, you'll find something like +/-22 V (from memory, been a couple of years).
Quite high and supposedly the "trick" that makes 'm sound better than operating them at like +/-12 V
There aren't that many opamps anyway that can operate with these high rail voltages.
