The Kapton tape on a roll is generally Kapton HN. That's not as good as Kapton MT. I would recommend MT for a non-class D amp. The part number for the 12x12 sheet is 2271K24. It's $28/sheet. You have to cut it with a 'sharp' razor knife. It dulls the blade VERY quickly.
A few of us over in the solid state amplifier section bought some "koptan" tape off of eBay. It's a knock off, but a former member here tested it out, and found it to be a much cheaper, but equal alternative to kapton... it's 3-4 bucks per roll I believe? Perhaps you will find it meets your needs.
That's generally 1mil HN with a silicone adhesive. I use it and it works well on switching power supplies and switching amps but the class AB amps produce a lot more heat.

I bought it for the DIYAUDIO Class AB "Honey Badger". Others have used it on that as well. In total fairness, the amp is designed to run cool, and I bought massive heat sinks(deluxe 5U) from the DIYAUDIO store.
A very respected/ safety oriented member was concerned about the Silicon adhesive under long term heat. His solution was to remove it it altogether and just use the bare koptan between the heat sink and the transistor.
I can't say if it is or isn't ideal for this application. My personal experience is using kapton wrapped wiring in aircraft applications. The only flaw I've noticed so far(on 20 year old wire) is from vibration /chaffing. This is not under direct heat though.
Either way, I just thought I'd present it as an alternative to expensive kapton tape.
What is MT? I'm not familiar with the abbreviation. Thanks.
