I soldered them all correctly and left enough slack, but the wires keep touching together, maybe a little too much slack? Is there any way to fix this without re-soldering? maybe it wont happen again, but would electrical tape be okay to put on the wire? it may add too much weight and break it.
Only you can judge...
You could try splitting a bit of heatshrink or stripped-off lightweight flex covering down one side and then carefully manoeuvering it over the wire by opening up the slit. It should spring back closed and stay in place. You only need to insulate one wire.

I'd do it properly. Unsolder the leads from the terminals, then as you resolder, give each one a full turn of twist between your fingers, so that when refixed, each naturally wants to spring away from the other. Oh, and make sure you haven't allowed to much slack, as the wires can slap against the cone creating a horrible ticking noise. 😉
put a half twist in each lead and make the twists in opposite directions. that will give the leads some tension to minimize resonance and make sure they do not touch.

Ooh, I'm typing with invisible ink! 😀

No, I'm confused! Is it half a twist or a full twist of lemon with that?😛

Half twist for your gin and tonic- that bruises the lemon skin just enough to let the flavours out of the peel without ripping the flesh. 😉

Nothing so fantastic. I did not read past the first few posts. But if it makes you feel better your idea is good too.
