Jukebox Woofer help please

Hello, I recently purchased a ROWE CD-100 Jukebox which is in fine working condition, however the 10" woofers have apparently rotted a bit (the surrounds are simply gone). They still play but they thump with distortion and need replacing...

I need help finding suitable replacements, as I am not savvy on speaker specs and what will work with my jukebox. From the information I gathered from online and this jukebox manual, I should be using (2) 10" subwoofers 8 ohm, but there is no information about RMS watts etc.

I have found some really good bargains on subs online that were intended for car audio, but I want to be sure my jukebox has enough power to run them. According to the manual my amplifier in the Juke is 250 watts, which i think runs all 6 of the jukebox speakers from 2 channels (2-10" subs,2-6"mids, 2-tweets).

The subs I'd like to buy is the Kicker 10C108. Will those work for me or do they require too much power?

Thank you for any advice you can give me, this is not my forte.

It would be best to repair the surrounds on the existing woofers. Otherwise you will put the crossovers that feed them off and not get optimum sound, or get poor sound your not happy with. If you get some surrounds that are a close match it would be better than mismatching complete new drivers. As long as they are angled the same where they meet the speaker cones, and made of the same material and density. It would be helpful if you have a small sample you could send them.

You can try calling or emailing midwest speaker repair and simply speakers, they should be able to help you out. Even more so if you email them some pictures along with exact measurements of basket flange and speaker cones and the angle of the cones.

SS4927-Thank you for your reply. I have succumb to wanting to replace the subs. I suppose it's a bit beyond me why it is so difficult to simply plug in other speakers and why this is so complicated (I know that makes me sound like an idiot). I found a deal too hard to pass up on the Kicker 10c108 8ohm speakers, so I have ordered them. After getting a response from a Rowe Jukebox repair place, they gave me the impression that any 8 ohm 10" subwoofer should suffice...would you say that was accurate? Supposedly, this Jukebox is also capable of running external speakers as well (as in if it were in a bar/restaurant).

Perhaps adjusting the crossover to match the new subs is my best option now?

Thanks again for your advice.

GM- thats the exact place that told me any 8 ohm 10" woofer would suffice. Its a pity that their ad for the speaker they are selling has no specs whatsoever on it. I assume it is just a generic...I just wanted to get something with a bit more quality for reletively the same price as they are asking.

I ordered the kicker 10c108 speakers (see link for specs), is there any reason why they shouldn't work?

You're welcome! The jukebox has a smaller driver [or two] also, right? A crossover [XO] filter is normally used to isolate them from the woofer. An over simplification, but you can research these if interested.

I didn't see any T/S specs [Fs, Vas, Qts], though the C10's published 500 Hz upper limit implies to me that it's not a good choice for a jukebox if my assumptions about its basic design are correct. Again though, I have no technical experience with this type jukebox.

The woofer looks to be crossed very low (from the size of the air core woofer inductor in the networks), 6" drivers for midbass/midrange, but the real question should be:

Open back cabinet or box cabinet?

If box, sealed or vented?
