Hi All,
I have a JL Audio MC-800/8v2 on the bench and have a couple questions.
I have a JL Audio MC-800/8v2 on the bench and have a couple questions.
- Do we have a source for the cross over switches (SK-23D04-G 12)? I cannot find a supplier, even using Octopart.
- Are the power supply terminal clips available anywhere? I need one for the B+ terminal.
- Does anyone know what the value of the capacitors are in the RC filter on the power supply primary side? One in the amp I am repairing was corroded and the other was damaged as well. Have a 100nF fitted, but that value seems too large since the 10ohm resistors are heating up allot.
From what I've seen the 0.1uF with the 10 ohm resistor is common. The resistor is large because it's expected to dissipate a lot of power, in the form of heat.
Is the B+ terminal completely missing?
Have you tried contacting the manufacturer of the switches? They offer samples. I don't know if you qualify (often have to be a manufacturer) but you could try.

Thanks Perry,
I have seen them as low as 0.0082uF, which is why I though I would ask. I realize with the size of the resistor, some heat dissipation is expected. I will experiment a bit more and if I settle on something other than the 0.1uF I have in there now, I will document it here.
I have requested an account at the manufacturer, but have not received any communication back yet. They also did not show any stock at their distributors, unfortunately.
No, the terminal is not missing just the little clip. I know that amp will function fine without it, I was just hopeful that there is a source for these.

If the remote terminal is the same size, you may want to move that clip to the B+ terminal.
The 0.0082uF is generally used with a lower value resistor.
Do you have a wide-band multimeter that can accurately measure the voltage across the resistor to confirm that it's not dissipating more than 2w?
As long as the snubber is limiting/eliminating ringing at all power levels, the value isn't critical.

Thanks again Perry!
Unfortunately, the remote terminal is not the same size.
I have a differential probe and at 11.6V supply the resistor is dissipating 1.6W RMS, so it should survive.
Like you say, it is not critical. I may experiment with other values, if I have time.
I was really hoping someone had a lead on locating the SK-23D04-G 12 switches.

Thank Perry,
I am going to install the EG2319, even though the length does not match, it is longer than the alternative
I may move some switches around so that the lengths are matched for a specific function, like remote turn on selection and turn on level or something similar.
Thanks again for all the help!
