I'm working on a JL Audio 400/4 amplifier. I hooked it up and the sounds goes on and off. It seems like the power supply in the amp is clipping on and off. Has anyone seen or dealt with this before?
I'm fairly fluid with a multimeter and have done many repairs before. I just need some direction on this one. I've been into a JL 500/5 before but it wasn't a power supply issue back then, just some bad input channels.

Start by cleaning all the switches and pots on the amp with contact cleaner ..
I've seen these amps do the same thing your describing due to dirty switches
