I'm dumping everything on e-bay. I've decided that I'll save up some bucks and buy a commercial one. Plus, I need money right now. And, its just not very realistic for me to spend hours and hours building this thing, while my wife is stuck with a 3 year old and a 5 month old baby. I just want it done, and, although I have no doubt in my mind I had the parts I needed to get it done -- a cost benefit analysis has proved that for my purposes, its not worth the work.
I've estimated that a close to 1200 Watt DIY projector will cost $134 annually to run 4 hours a day (bulbs&electricity), and the commercial one I have my eye on will cost $214 annually to run 4 hours a day (bulbs&electricity)
Electrical consumption is a real cost here. So, essentially, set aside the initial cost -- I spend $80 more annually for a nice little 1000ANSI lumen 800x600 projector with built in zoom, 16:9 mode, and keystone correction, that I can ceiling mount and my wife will actually like me for. pretty logical to me.

It's been fun!

I too have chosen to go that route. My Diy project is ok but Im starting to demand more quality picture for my home theatre. I sold everything and made a little profit on ebay. So I picked up a 3m mp8750 with no bulb for $400 and got a new bulb for it $300. Im using an Htpc I also just built using Shuttle's new mini pc. The outcome is awesome! I know there is no way I can make something that can compare to this projector. So I had fun for a couple of months time to move on to something else maybe an electric DIY screen LOL.😱
