Just finished the prototype for my ONO clone yesterday. It worked upon the first fire up and the only thing needing to be set was the bias in the output stage. Did not expect that, it can't be that easy. It remained stable after a couple of hours and a quick scope check gave no weird measurements. So i dusted of the lp player, hooked it up to the tube setup and switched on. It played music from first contact and very well to. I did not switch off for about 4 hours of records.
This is still a proto and I certainly did not expect it to do this good. I was totally surprised at the details i could hear when playing take five (album). Very silent with no shielding and near all sorts of cabling. I might just keep the current psu and that uses a voltage doubler...
Really happy with this one! This is gonna be finalised first!

I picked up the aluminium for the cases from the anodises this afternoon so I've started putting those together. Just waiting on the power supply parts from Banzaimusic them I can heat up the soldering iron.

Oh new parts coming in and a chassis with that to! I always love that moment, unwrapping the parts and heating up the soldering iron. Unfortunately this also makes me impatient and makes me forget to do the soldering in a planned and controlled manner...
What sort of parts, layout and psu are you planning to use? I often use wooden side panels for my chassis but given the sensitivity of phono circuits don't dare with the Ono. Yet given how silent it is now I just might go with the wood again.

The cases look good; although the front panels will have to go back they havent brushed the edges properly!
I'm using R.stens power supply boards fed by AST laminated trannies. The regulated supplies are VBE units from Avondale Audio in the UK; not the the onboard 317's on the boards.
I'm still waiting for the p/supply caps from Banzai; darn volcanic ash. At least I hope thats the reason they've not been sent.
I'll post pics when the boards are populated.
