Is this Al unit same as MCM 55-1855?

...it looks it and I'm getting all excited as I could then start thinking about line arrays and all the other things you lucky people in the US (and Canada) have been doing with these inexpensive little wonders. They sell a 6.5'' version too, but I've never heard talk of that.

Well, I haven't used the MCM woofer.

The photo looks almost identical.

CPC gives sketchier specs, but:

The "frequency range, (response)" is identical: 45-15Khz
The metric size is identical: 130.5 mm
The frequency of resonance is identical: 45 Hz
The power handling is identical: 50 W - 100 W
The price is in a way similar: MCM $10.95, CPC 10.83pds.

I would say there is a 99% chance that CPC took the same woofer and charges in pounds what MCM charges in dollars.

Since the pound is now $1.66 or thereabouts, it isn't that great, but not so bad, either.

The slight difference in angle in the photo might be due to the fact that these woofers might be made overseas, where the manufacturer has many different variations on the same model. I have seen many overseas manufacturers' websites where that is the case.

It sure does look the same. The MCM is an OEM unit from Asia and they are restricted somewhat from shipping them out of the US which indicates to me that others have exclusives in other countries.

This is a nice little unit... besides the mandatory ductseal on the basket they need a coat of puzzlecoat or similar on the cones (exclude the dust caps).
