I have Kester 186 and 2331 fluxes. I'm going to start using Pb free solders and was wondering which one of these I should use? 186 is a mildly active rosin flux and is the sort of thing I'm used to, but 2331 is this organic water soluable stuff. Not sure which to use.
Whichever one is compatible with the solder you are using.
Cross check between the solder manufacturer and the flux manufacturer.

I tried the pb free solder and absolutely hated it. I had trouble getting it to flow properly unless I used a 40+ watt iron. This was the whisker thin stuff, not thick solder at all. Your mileage may vary though since you are probably using a different flux that I did.
What I had (the flux that is) I picked up from Radio Shack a few years back, but soldering with and without it gave me the same results.
Let us know how your results turn out and what you did to achieve them. I sort of hate to waste a pound of solder ...lol.
