is 100wrms enough for a set of magneplanar 2.7qrs I have the option to buy some and are running a pair of monarchy monoblock 100w amps

~1976 I ran MG1 with modified Dyna 70, Citation, V, Belles 70 watt hot class A amp (later modified into a brighter sounding but very clear AB amp). In the early 80's, Tympani 1D w. DH200 - DH500 (DH500 sounded less dynamic than DH200) and Threshold 800 - loved the 1D. My rooms were fairly small. Later with a 17x27x 8 foot room, the old MG1 could not play well even with a Bedini 200-200- enter horn and Karlson systems.

To allow for headroom, you need ~14 db of rms-to-peak headroom to accommodate most music. 100 watts rms will allow you to use ~7.9 watts of rms power with NO clipping. This is NOT enough to drive most relatively inefficient speakers (which Magneplanars certainly are) to a really good rockin' high level, which, IME, is about 105 db SPL. It'll be enough if you only listen quietly.

I remember getting by with two EAR509 monoblocks for MGI IMP in a room perhaps 13x15x9 feet - but I wasn't a rocker. Ivan Kozlovsky's 1970 concert sounded very nice - same with Screamin'
Jay Hawkins on Edsel lp.. My listening chair was only about 7-9 eett back and levels not "loud". My Tympani seemed to resolve pretty well between different RIAA preamps - one was NYAL's Tube God NB1 - all 6dj8. w. White cascode bufers. Those 1D were much fun in a different small room of the house. A friend who was into rock had MGII and IRC ran them pretty loud with ARC D76. - dunno how often it was clipping. He also ran double MGII with ARC SP3 +Dyna Stereo 400. (my first big SS kit).

Depending upon the OP's room size, taste in genre and listening habits, he may get by OK. It will be interesting to hear of his experiences.
