I've got a question that hopefully someone can help me with.
I have a Xantech 789-44 IR Connection Block and I just broke the IR receiver off the receiving cable. (I then lost the diode). Basically all I'm looking for is a IR reciever that has just 3 wires coming off the receiver. Because of my setup this is easier than one with a 3.5mm jack at the end of the cable; however, I could always just cut the 3.5mm jack off and use the wires.
I effectively want something that looks like this sans 3.5mm jack:
But is a receiver not a flasher. I also understand the receiver will be a little bit bigger, but I'm looking for the most minimalist design possible.
Thanks!

I don't know Xantech stuff but a quick look at the 490-30 IR receiver (which you busted?) is a 3-pin module but powered off 12VDC and I'm not sure of carrier freq.
Vishay makes great IR reciever modules but they are 5.5V max. so you would need a zener or voltage reg. to power it, and another transistor for the output. It's a bit of work.
