Hi All,
I'm relatively new here. I've browsed through some of the forums to get an idea of what goes on.
I'm a mechanical CAD designer (currently out of work
), live in the Chicago area, married with no kids.
I'm into home audio and love the old classic rock, jazz, blues and classical (not in that order).
I hope to have some good discussions on music and audio though I'm not much of a DIYer. I've built my own speakers with the help of another engineer for the crossover.
So, that's me in a nutshell.
Take Care All,
Dave

Hi Dave
There is a whole lot of work at Peter's as mechanical designer with his great project. Just look at the 'First official review of the GainClone'. 😎
Welcome to this 'a_lot_of_shaking_going_on_forum' - Elvis
And...tell us some more about your speakers...will you?
/Hugo 🙂

Okay I'll try to describe the speakers in question.
The cabinets were supplied by Madisound.com (24"x18x12). Maximum density partical board with walnut vaneer. The crossover was designed by my old boss (VP of EE) and assembled by Madisound. I chose Eaton drivers, 12" woofers and 3" dome tweeters. Once, burned in, they really have nice imaging and depth. Clapton's Unplugged disc sounds as if he's right in front of you.
I'm thingking of building a new subwoofer (if and when I get another job).
Right now, I'm realy looking to upgrade my headphones (EH2270's) to something that really will provide a good soundstage. The EH's are okay...for $60US you can't really go wrong. I'm thinking of AKG240's to make my wife happy. She had a set sometime ago but, her ex took them in the divorce. Personally, I would prefer the HD580's or 600's.
