internal shielding

just a newbie question: does one have to ground the internal shielding of a tube?

Depends on the application and layout.

Certainly it's preferable. But if it's inducing ground noise, try grounding it through a 1Meg resistor shunted by a smallish cap, say 0.01 to 0.047uF.

Mr. Broskie suggest a .1uF cap to ground. but he also said that you can connect it directly to ground.

Yeah, the value isn't that critical.

I would listen to Broskie in this case over me 😀
