Does anyone know whether the Scanspeak mid-woofer 18W8545-01 can be used successfully in an infinite baffle enclosure?
Scanspeak say that all their drivers are designed for vented with no mention of infinite baffle use. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.
I wanted to avoid the tuned box and use a sealed box. Although the drive has been designed for ported use, I was wondering whether anyone had tried it in a sealed box. Accurate bass location is more important to me than the deep thudding bass typical of ported boxes.

It will not sound good in a sealed box. The 18W/8535-00 will sound ok though.
Do you already have a pair of Scan 18W8545-01?

Just did a quick sim of the Scan 18W8545-01 in a ported box and the 15ltr that Madisound recommend is exactly what I came up with. I'd use the 2" port that they recommend but would experiment with lengths of between 5" and 10" long.
Thanks fatmarley.
Unfortunately, I already have the Scan 18W8545.01 midwoofers and the D2905/9500 tweeters. It looks as though I will have to use a ported box and accept the bloated bass. I was planning on a 15 litre box. Would a 35mm port be useable?

35mm will cause some serious port chuffing at higher levels. Stay with 50mm.
The bass doesn't have to be bloated. Just experiment with port lengths. You can try different length on the outside of the box and when you find the length you are happy with, transfer it to the inside of the box.
