Hey guys,
Ever since a few days ago when I first heard of building my own projector, I have been dreaming this **** all day and night long.
I've heard about using a psone screen, computer LCD monitor screens...and so on and so on
I want to make a projector that I do not need to connect to my computer. I just want to be able to plug a DVD s-video, or RCA cable (FOR TV OR XBOX) directly into a powered LCD panel.
Is this possible?? I have read many things and done some research on LCD panels, but they don't exactly say whether they need to be computer driven.
Also, What about a small LCD TV (with descent resolution and RCA inputs)...I just saw one in radio shack (Although I hate that crappy place) would I be able to take the LCD and tv tuner out of that and strip it down to use in a projector? I also saw a few descent LCD TV's in Circuit City.
....Is it the same type of LCD where you would be able to strip it down to where you could shine a light through it?
I ain't worried about the lense or light source part, it's the LCD that is a pain in the *** for me.
Thanks guys,
Solarguyone

Nope, you do not have to run the video through your computer. Although, you do if you want a very decent quality picture. S-video is better than regualay RCA jack, but still, nothing compares to VGA. You can buy a converter, that would hook up your DVD player, and Xbox to your computer, then you would have the good picture quality also.
How big do you want your projection to be? < This is what makes the difference

I only want about a 60 inch picture or somewhere around that.
...and the only reason I dont want to hook through a computer is because I don't want a whole big rig sitting in our entertainment room....there is already enough **** in there.
Have you ever seen a pic projected from a psone screen??
Do you think that may be sufficient enough for 60 in??
Thanks
