I'm wiring a 500ASP + 500A stereo power amp. Just wondering if the onboard fuse in the 500ASP is sufficient or if it is better practice to add another fuse inline right after the power switch. Many thanks for any advice.
Thanks. I don't have the schematic for the module and was unaware how far upstream the fuse sat. Your answer confirms that it is in front of the circuit.
The ASP fuse is in the power supply mains, so it is rated to protect the PSU in all loading conditions.
Be advised that while building a stereo amp this way will work, the A-series and ASP-series amps are not 100% identical. Whether this is audible I'll leave up to you to decide, but the A-series amp has no overload and short-circuit protection.

Thanks. Had I known the differences, I would have bought 2 X 500ASP originally. With one 500ASP and one 500A in hand, I'll go ahead and build it and see what I think. It will likely only power bass in my system at <200Hz and I'll go through a DSP, so likely no unsurmountable issues.
