Hello,
I want to add external I2S input to my existing DAC using one RJ45 PCB socket (see attached picture). I searched on this forum but I didn't found anything related to RJ45 <-> I2S pins description/schematic. Does anybody knows how to connect RJ45 to I2S bus ?
Thank you!

Assuming you want to use standard CAT5 the I2S signals will not enjoy getting twisted to each other so maybe combine each signal with ground in a pair. This is not likely to be ideal unless only for a very short distance.
I think you would want to use LVDS (look at the National chipset) with ethernet cable and connectors as it is fully differential. I2S by itself IMLE is not robust enough for transmission over more than about 8 - 10 cm.
Since this is probably a one shot deal just be sure to document what you do so you know how you did it when you build new hardware..

Hello guys,
thank you for posting... One example of what I'm looking for is Northstar M192 CD-Transport who uses RJ45 socket for I2S signals. I googled on the net and I've found some cables who does the work... indeed are expensive and (very?) short but.. dedicated 🙂
Any ideea which are the M192's I2S signals after RJ45 socket?
thanx!
