I have a picture of the MAB8441 but it's very bad.
I'll post it anyway.
The MAB8441 is used in the following Philips players:
CD104
CD371
CD473
CD650
CD660
...
Marantz
CD65
...

That's about all I have.
Greetings
/Hugo

The MAB is a controller. It be programmed differently in those players (my 650 has 3 microcontrollers...).

The player will have a testmode: press 3 different buttons on the front and switch the player on. (e.g. pause, stop, play). Dont know the ones for your player: trial and error.

If you get into testmode, you will only see one 0 on the display.
Then press next and it will become a 1. The player will then try different things once at a time.

On my 650 it is stop, play, search>>.
0: service mode
1: laser on and attempt to focus
2: turntable motor on
3: radial movement of arm on: music played.
With search you can now control the arm.

You probably have a bad laser, you can see if it works by looking to it FROM AN ANGLE. You see a faint orange glow around the lens. Do not look at a straight angle from above !!!!!!!!!!!
If it does work, it might have been the last thing you saw....!

I have the service manual, if you are a bit more precise on the fault, we could figure out what is wrong.

Greetings,

GuidoB
