Hello Everyone,
I am in the process of collecting information on HTPCs. I am on a limited budget, exactly I do not know (~$500). The primary purpose of this computer will be to play DVDs and to Game (Final Fantasy XI). I guess the first question would be, what CPU should I go with? I am very inexperienced with building computers and with the components, so hopefully this thread will spark some great discussions.

Also If you're looking for a case that will fit in with your current av gear try a barebones mini atx case suchas the shuttle ( http://us.shuttle.com/product_mini.asp )
Which flavour CPU?? It's a matter of personal taste, but I'm using an AthlonXP 1800+ which handles everything I can throw at it. Also AMD tends to be cheaper than their Intel counterparts
