Looking at a Holden and Fisher toroidal transformer, the label says "Rating 30". Its a 15-0-15V transformer, not to big and I was wondering whether the 30 means 30VA or 30 amps???
You can tell by size of transformer.
It would be very big to pass 30 amps at 15 volts.
The rating is probably VA so 1A per winding max current.

Thanks Nigel. I thought the same. Your answer pretty much confirms what I suspected before.
I wonder whether it would be safe to use in circuits requiring more than 15V DC. I mean, after rectifying bridge, capacitors and all, if I build a regulated power supply.
