how to power up the fan controller

i just bought a fan controller from newegg and i pan to use it for my diy projector.
i tried my old pc power supplier, but it will not power up without the motherboard.
so i will like to try regular 12v power supply that i got from radio shack, but i don't know how to connect the wire.
please some body help me.
my fan controller cable is same as the hard disk power cable which has four pins, 2 black one yellow and one red.
but my radio shack 12v power supply has only 2 wires.
what should i do?

Internal Power Leads of PCs:

Yellow: 12v
Black: Ground
Black: Ground
Red: 5v

if you still want to power it with the pc power supply, just short the green wire with a black wire on the 24-pin with a paper clip. then it should switch on

Jjust check the minium load on the psu first and make sure you dont go below it or it causes problems.
