How to make antenna only go out when on radio.

Hi,
My pioneer head decks in my cars make the power antennae go up when anything is being played- CD, Aux or radio.
I want to install something which would make it only go up when the radio is selected.
Does anyone have a schematic for any Pioneer head decks? I assume the circuit layout would be similar between models.
Or does anyone know how the modes are switched?
Cheers,
Caleb.

I'm thinking the antenna goes up whenever power is turned on to the head unit (not unlike the Remote line for an external amplifier). It would probably be easiest to install a separate switch in that line to the antenna motor, and flip it on when selecting the radio.
Otherwise, the modes are probably logic-controlled, and you would need to branch that enable signal to a DIY relay circuit or similar.

Pioneer usually have 2 remote wires one that says power antenna and one that says remote. Usually one wire is solid blue and one is blue with a white stripe, and most of the time the wiring shematic is on the deck itself in form of a huge sticker on top of the deck. The antenna remote should be hooked to the antenna and the regular remote should be hooked to the amp(s).

Yeah thats what I was thinking of doing. Does anyone know whether the radio/CD/aux have separate circuit boards or sections, or is everything in one chip? Hopefully there is an 'input selector' IC or similar. It would be even easier if the selector powered each section on and off...

I have 2 cars with Pioneer head decks and they both act the same way. Im pretty sure that the antenna remote is connected rather than the amp remote.
Ill try and find the model number.

i remember something about programming decks to switch to radio function remote years back. really need the model number, which is printed right on the face, even the real old ones. also, sheck your harness. depending on the year, it may not have an antennae remote wire in the harness, but should have a slot for one, and the output already functioning.

Pin 8? Ill have a look. Do you know where it is?

I couldnt find a schematic for it but I saw a schematic for another pioneer head deck and the chip which selected the audio source was also the volume control chip and was controlled by serial data I think, argh!
