Hi Friends,
My current project will have a LCD display in the front plate of the cabinet.
So I plan to "drill" a rectangular hole in the frontplate, matching the exact LCD dimensions (+0.5mm to simplify the install).
I would like to know your recommandation on how to fix it on the front plate: what do you use to keep it in place ?
A photo would be appreciated !

I've used two different methods for mounting a display. For my Aikido preamp, the display was mounted on a frame built from aluminum angle stock and standoffs; see the first two photos below. I used this approach because of its simplicity. For my Aleph P 1.7 preamp, the display was mounted directly on the rear face of the 10mm thick front panel. Front Panel Express was used on this project, and their services made this approach very easy. The last two photos should help.

Do you intend to have it flush with the exterior surface?
It might sound awful, but I would use hot glue - rough up the Al so it sticks better - start with spots of glue at the corners then a stream around it

I have 2 additioinal questions:
A-/.where have you bought the 6 switches (Power, Source, Monitor,...) that we see on your PASS frontplate ? I also have to use similar switches on my project, and I do not know where to buy them. I am also looking for other formfactors, such as "push buttons"", but your would already be a convenient solution !
B-/.you say that you have used FrontPanel for your Pass project, but have they perform the required Tapping, necessary to screw the printed circuit with the frontplate ?

-20dB -20dB

It may take me a day or so to find the BOM for that preamp, but I'll let you know what switch I used. All of the switches are mounted on a 3 mm aluminum strip, and the strip is bolted to the front panel. Front Panel Express drilled and tapped the necessary mounting holes on the rear of that front panel to my specification. It was necessary to have slightly enlarged holes on the rear side of the front panel, to account for the switches' protrusion off the aluminum strip.
And yes, FPE does a great job -- if you can design it, they seem capable of machining it (though at times at quite a significant cost).
