Hello, a few months ago i built a projector using a varifocal bought on exclusiv-online.
It cost me 40EUROS, about 46US DOLLARS.
Now i want to build a new projector and i was wondering if i can buy something cheap maybe on ebay... i don't know what to search for?
And about local stores? where can i find varifocals? On photography stores?
Anyone can help?
And fresnels?

You can buy a kit with projection lens and Fresnels from lumenlab at a reasonable price. A varifocal is harder to find, but we don't really need one since we can vary image size by varying the projection distance (aka throw). Apparently what we want and could find on e-bay conveniently are opaque projector lenses. These are likely to cover big screens with excellent luminosity (F/D) and decent sharpness.

I have watched opaque projector lenses on eBay for quite some time. I have seen them sell for as low as $12 US, but they usually go for $65 to $75 US. These are 18 inch (457 mm) focal length triplets and 5 inch (127 mm) diameter, so they give you a very bright image. They are very useful as long-throw lenses with 12 to 15 inch LCD panels.
