Hot Rod "Bronco" project/TRANSFORMERS
Hello everybody from this "newbie". I have an old, single-ended tube Fender amp that I'm having someone modify for me. I have a choice between using a 6v6, or a 6l6 tube. I'm trying to get more wattage from the amp. I've already replaced the speaker for a more efficient one, I'm now replacing the output and power transformers to create a little more output. I'm not trying to make this setup scream as I already have a Marshall stack and Fender Showman, this is just for practice. My question is this, as I do not want to fry this setup, what other adjustments do I need to have done? Eg. 1. the power transformer is going to be a Hammond 274AX, and I want to use either a Hammond A.- 125FSE or a B.-125GSE. 2. What should I have the plate voltage set for? 3. What about the "screen" voltage? 4. What about the filter caps? 5. What about the caps for the treble and bass controls, or are these the same thing as mentioned before, remember I'm a newbie. Since I've had this amp I had to replace the original speaker(3.2ohm) to two speakers(8ohms-parallel) to not worry about the original transformer frying/blowing up. Since then I recently changed to Jensen Mod series, so I think the speakerr can handle any changes done. Any suggestions, anyone? Once again, thanks from the new kotb. Selrakyan
