Hook-up Wire?

I searched some for my answers.

Re-wiring old guitar tube amp. The existing wire that needs replacing measures .04" (18 awg). Appears to be tin plated.

Silver or Tin plating preference?

PVC or Teflon insulation?

Standed or Solid conductor?

Thanks

Hi,

Standed or Solid conductor?

IMO solid core is much easier to work with in a tube amp and should be less prone to microphony.

PTFE can be a PITA to strip if you don't have the appropriate tools,
it tends to stretch.
Alternatives are Tefzel hook-up wire or Kynar insulated copper wire.

Cheers,😉
