ok well , first of all i had a few broken magnepans , and stripped a few of the magnets to make some tweeters.
i made a piece of perforated plate 5 cm x 17 and placed 3 rows of magnets , made a nice membrane of mylar 6 uM nicely stretched in a rig, sticked aluminum traces between the rows on the mylar.
space between magnets and the mylar is 0.8 mm.
made a second one without the mylar to serve as front for a push pull system.
now there is sound, and quit much to, but the strange thing is i dont really like the highs. it sounds like the mids are pretty much there but the higher tones like 6K and up are not as present, or maybe the other way around the mids are to present, sound a bit hollow
i thought the first time well maybe its the resonance frequency, but the mylar whas not that much stretched, so i made a new one with more tension. increased sound quality a bit but stil to much mid and the hollow cheap sound.
Removing the front magnets from the push pull system does not effect the hollow sound.
Does anybody know whats hapening? i tried diferend forms as well like almost a square, but same result.
Another thing i have a pair in my living that did suceed , but those are much bigger and have smaller magnet bars, (the smaller magnet from magnepans tweeter section) if thats the solution i wonder why, i would like to use the rst of the 40 meter of magnet as well 🙂.

I wonder if a passive cross over would help ? I'm new to this , so I'm kinda "' thinkin' out loud here " .
I have a MMG that has the mylar messed up ( excessively wrinkled ...ie loose ) and my plans for this MMG are , to cut it in 2 equal size pieces , and re-wire
them both , and try and figure out a cross-over for them . . . I'm not going to be out much money . . . so why not try it ?
My thinking is that they might make a good surround speaker , who knows, they might sound like crap too . . . ;-)

I use an active crossover on the Pc to test the little thing so that should not be hte problem.
the thing is i have a pair that do sound great so it is possible, but the great question is what is it that makes these sound ok and the other ones crap. so i can take that into acount when making one for the 3000 time
