It seems that Seme-Labs now makes fets that are very similar to these old unavailable parts.
Fernal/Newark has them.

There are also other parts in this series that are 16 amp, 200v, and in
two other packages other than to-3.
I ordered some yesterday. Want to fix an old homemade amp with them.

I built 2 mono amplifiers with the hitachi parts back in 1981. I used them until
this summer when I decided to recompensate them to change the phase shift in the high end to sweeten it up some.
Of course oscillations are bad, the first one oscillated and all 4 fets broke.
So I stopped there, was mad at myself. Only had 2 p channel and 1 N channel, and they had different transconductances. Not enough to fix it.
Now I can fix them and again gain enjoyment from these 2 old amps.
I posted because I thought that there might be others that have broken
amps that use these parts. I bought extras this time. I am going to do it
again, only be more carefull this time.

I can understand you wanting to fix an old Lateral FET amp and its tough luck they failed on you in the first place as generally speaking they are very robust.
If there is any doubt about the amp when the new parts are fitted (or you are trying some mod) then maybe use a bulb tester for the initial power-up to save any mishaps.

Xtechee, you can also get those parts branded as "EXICON" direct from Profusion Plc. in the UK. The part numbers, you should check from their website, but I believe they are ECF10N16 and ECF10P16. The number prefix 10 instead of O8 simply denotes a peak instead of max. current rating.
You may well find these cheaper, as I did buying direct on-line, than the OEM branded ALFETs. Both brands actually come from the Semelab forge, are in similar parts ranges and have identical specs. I believe they are identical.

I have 4 unused pairs of Exicon 10N20-10P20. Of course shipping cost from 'Suisse' may be an issue.
