I'm building a preamp for my recording studio heres the schematics I am thinking about Balanced microphone preampbut I really don't know if this is what I need so please chime in with advice and if I'm way off track please let me know thanks Amzie
It looks like it should work. You could also use an instrumentation amplifier; the INA103 seems to be popular for mic preamps. Googling or searching this site will turn up examples.

Page 12 shows a mic preamp with 20 dB pad, phantom power, variable gain and a DC servo to eliminate output offset voltage.
There's also the INA217 which TI says is a "Low Noise, Low-Distortion Instrumentation Amplifier Replacement for SSM2017"
