I have this Hifo for repair over here, it's a class d. Replaced 12 Mosfets in the powerstage, it works again normal. Power output to 600w / 4 ohm.
But...whem I connect the bassremote module and turn at the potm. it goes into protect. The red LED (protect) on the bassremote always lights up. The blue (power on) is always off.
Remote module contains only a potm and 2 resistors and 2 leds, all are OK.
Cable OK...straight RJ12 6 pin
Voltages on the opamps are +/- 15V when remote connected..
There is a LM13600 inside, I think thats the remote control opamp?
Anyone has some tips..?
Rob.

Does the amp go into protect if the remote is plugged in before the amp is powered up?
Have you confirmed that you have pin to pin continuity from the main board to the remote board? The connectors could be defective. I've seen some amplifiers that would self-destruct if there was a bad connection on the remote cable or connector. These were older amps but it's something you should check.
Are you sure that the cable that Hifonics uses is a standard RJ12 cable. If I remember correctly, some manufacturers use cables that are not the same as telephone cables.
The 13600 is the IC they use to control the level. It's not a standard op-amp.

Bertje, how are you doing ? Are you sure you have the correct Sub bass control for that amp. Hifonics was jumping around between suppliers back then, and remotes varied by the series number....🙂
Well...the Cronos XX have two connections, remote in and remote out. The remote out is for controlling a slave amp, so I don't use.
The remote IN is for connecting the bass remote control unit (master)
The cable is for the remote OUT, so that would cause the problem (maybe..??). Different pinning for remote OUT en IN...?
Could be, but ...
The owner says that both cables (original remote IN and remote OUT) give problems, the original cable is installed in his car so I cannot test or measure.
Strange problem, without bassremote connected the amp has an idle current of 3A and normal output up to 600w @ 4 ohm.
@Perry LM13600 is an OTA indeed..
1moreamp: fine, thank you...🙄

I had that with a lightning audio 1kw class d strike amp. Came used with remote and the remote would not work; freaked the amp out hardly any sound and if you turned up remote it would oscillate the sub badly. LED on remote were lit opposite of those on amp. Took remote apart and it said X1.1000/etc on board, the numbers for storm series amps IIRC not strike amps (S1.1000) though they use the same sink. They do not run at same ohm loads so they are different internally. It uses the cable like a PC network, larger than phone jack. BTW the strike and storm remotes look the same externally in the manuals.
Found it!
So, there are two sort of cables used, for linking the bassremote signal from the master amp to the slave amp. This is the remote OUT cable. This cable is straight RJ12.
The other cable, remote IN, is used for the bass remote module.
This cable is cross RJ12...
btw, from the bassremote module the blue power-on LED was blown.
So don't mix them.
