I received this amp for repair. Its a Brutus BX2200D please excuse my mistake on the title.
The power supply fets were removed when I got the amp as well as some of the outputs.
I replaced the 3 2SB1260's on the pwm board and replaced Q225 and Q226.
I put 1 p/s fet in each group as it looks to me there 4 groups of 3.
When I power the amp it does not draw excess current but brings my supply down to 5vdc like there is a dead short.
I powered it through a current limiter and it powers up, but the green light does not come on nor does the protect. Sometimes there is relay engagement and sometimes not.
If I leave it powered through the limiter the p/s fets will start to get warm.
Pic#1: mainboard
Pic#2: gate signal when powered through the limiter
Pic#3: audio driver board
Any ideas what would be causing this dead short and what to check?
Is it ok to try and power the amp with just 4 p/s fets?

OK I found the problem. There were two burned traces underneath the board from the transformer to the back of the amp around the audio board.
Also who ever worked on this amp before had the outputs in the wrong spots.
This amp goes as follows: 9640-9640-9640-640-640-640-640-640-640-9640-9640-9640 they were all mixed up. As soon as I removed them the amp poweres up fine, idles with green and blue light and draws no current and has relay engagement.
I repaired the traces and I am going to install new outputs and try to power again.

ive had issues with the outputs testing good but are bad. anything gets warm?
timwebb do you know if this amp originally used IRF640N's or just IRF640's?
Someone has both installed so I will end up replacing all of them to have matching date codes.
Thats what I have seen in the ones I have fixed. This one had a mix, thats why I am replacing them all.
I replaced all the outputs in that side and the amp idles fine, draws no current, has no dc on the output terminals and has green light and blue light and is not in protect.
I think its safe to install the rest of the p/s fets now.

I have all 12 IRFP064N P/S FETS installed and all the outputs are changed.
I have a stable amp with clean audio.
Putting it back in the heat sink and then to run it hard abusing the old 18" Punch XLC..............LOL
