Hi, As an audiophile I make a better mechanic and maybe I shouldn't be here, however, to introduce myself I am 59 ,live on the outskirts of Melbourne Australia and have been involved in auto restorations of big Aussie muscle cars, particularly Fords of the 60's and 70's, and for fun I go R/C model flying, Skiing, wakeboarding fishing and stuff.

Recently ,my brother in law passed away and I have been given the job of selling his audio gear for his widow (my sister in law) and I have several amplifiers, 2 of which are Luxman MQ36's and a heap of tubes and valves as well as other amps, osciliscope all of which looks like 60's and 70's stuff. Most of the tubes are in original boxes and I would like to talk to some one who may know the value of some of it.
If any one can help I would love to hear from you.

I can be contacted by email.... merayza@optusnet.com.au or through this forum, or if you live in Oz I can email my phone numbers.

Hope I haven't offended anyone heremerayza@optusnet.com.au

Hi Rayza,
Welcome to DiyAudio. You are welcome here if you have any interest in audio (otherwise this is a boring place). You will notice that there is an automotive sound forum as well

I'm sorry to hear the news of your brother in law passing away. That's never a good time to family.

May I make a suggestion or two?

Please put a post in our "trading post" area detailing some of what you need to get rid of.

When selling these things, I believe your brother in law would probably have wished his electronic things go to someone who will actually use these things, rather than kick around Ebay to a collector or profit taker. I would request (for what it's worth) that you give priority to someone involved or studying in electronics. A fellow hobbyist please. That way his possessions will be put into use and help someone else out some. Ignore ebay pricing. Remember that these prices represent the absolute maximum anyone would pay for the items at that time, and in that location. Pricing for stuff in Canada differers from the USA and Australia.

Again, welcome to DiyAudio!, Chris

Thank you for your reply. I need to catalogue things into common or similar numbers before I can start listing anything I guess, I have lots of vac. tubes that are still in their original boxes, old and very old amps, oscilliscope etc . so I will look for your trading post area and start on it I guess.

I am not going to be doing anything and I would like it to go to someone who cares.
Rayza
