Just thought i would drop a line and say Hello. I (like so many here) am kinda new to electronics. I've come here for advise and insperation for my current and future projects. I've been reading many posts,books,online literature and have viewed many DIY audio pictures for some time. I finally took the leap recently and decided to build my own 3886 gainclone. the picture is in the chipamp section. I have deep appreciation for a person who can take several cheap components, glue them together precisly and come out with a product that will light anyones ears up. This is what intrigues me and makes me want to dig deeper and see my visions come to life. I look forward to the experience! Brad

c2cthomas: You might still have a chance with me 😛 I have finished a Perreaux and an Ampliwire 100 .. but still havent worked up the nerve to plug them in.

Sooooooooooooooooner or later we all get to let the magic smoke out of something - it is the nature of electronics. That is one reason that safety must be #1!!!! Have a remotely located "safety" switch with which you can kill the juice to the unit under flame test - wear your safety glasses - have a fire extinguisher at hand - things like that. Don't let it get you to upset when you do blow something up - unless of course you have managed to blow off a couple of fingers - 😱😱😱
I would be glad to come over to your house and help out - but you live to far away for that. Thus - keep your camera running and post the video to Youtube or some such thing and we can all watch the fun!!!😀😀😀
Besides - in order to be able to join ZM and me over at the dummies table of the Pass Pub you have had to blown up at least one thing electronic. If you do it on purpose we might consider it good enough if it at least trips out the circuit breakers to house... 😎
BTW - congratulations on your build!!!! As we like to say around here - we like photo's of audio porn - and no photo's = no proof = didn't happen!
