Hey guys, I have been checking out some of forums for a while and just wanted to say hello. I am a returning electrical engineering student after having been a state licensed electrical contractor for about 10 years. Had to have some back surgery now I am back to finish. I am currently working as a researcher in our Energy Routing Lab, high power switching converters and their controls.
I have always been into electronics and have regular projects. and have been fixing audio amplifiers for about 6 months now to help make a little extra money. I have only been working on kicker stuff for no other reason than it has always been what I have installed in my personal vehicles. For now I am still learning some of the different topologies and troubleshooting techniques of theses amps before doing any others.
I have repaired several of the KX series from 200.1 up to 850.4, two SX series amps and a few of the ZX up to the 1500.1 series amps. Right now I have a pair of 04ZX1200.1 amps that are giving me trouble. I have repaired their power supplies to include the mosfets, biasing, drivers and controller, but the output stage is the cause of my trouble. The configuration doesn't make much sense to me without seeing a schematic for it.
Anyways its a nice forum with a broad range of topics that interest me. Thanks.
