Joined because I have a set of System Audio Pandion 20s that I love, and am keen to expand into a 5.1 or 7.1 setup.
They’re discontinued so I was researching their drivers and tweeters to see what else might use them. Scanspeak 15W/4531G10 drivers with Scanspeak D2905/990008 tweeters. Both appear custom to the Pandion 20 (and 5’s, 2’s and 30’s by the looks) but similar drivers and tweeters can be had off the shelf: 15W/4531G00 and D2905/990000 from the Revelator range.
I came across a thread in here where one of your users was looking to replicate the Pandion 5s. I’m a decent woodworker myself so I’m also tempted to give it a try (either 2’s or 5’s). For me - the hardest part will be designing the electronics - in particular the crossovers. I’ll also need to design a custom centre speaker to match, SA didn’t do one for this range that I can copy.
Anyway, if anyone has any pointers for this journey let me know!
Last time I built speakers was with my dad when I was about 16. I’m 42 now…
