Here is my idea for my projector, I want a small design. I plain on useing a slide projector style halogen bulb with a a blower to keep the unit cool. The big issue for me is finding a small high quality lcd panel, the best I could find was 1.8inch 224,000 pixels. Anyone know of any better small panels? anyway here is my rough design...

Not Knockin' it

It looks like a pretty good design. The only change I would make is in the placement of the frensl lens. IMHO you should have 2 frensl lenses. Place them almost touching the lcd on both sides and make sure that your light source is at 1*fl of the first frensl. That would give you a parallel beam of light going through the panel and then condensing back down to the projection lens.

The other option is to forget the second frensl and place the light at 2*fl of the first frensl.

Just my $.02

If you're wanting to deal on the small scale, and want an affordable piece of heat-blocking glass, check out American Science and Surplus. Right at the top of that page they've got a small piece of heat-filter glass (2"x2"x1/8") for $5. Really good price if you're dealing on the small-scale like you are. 🙂

I agree with what was said about the lenses, make sure you've got space for focal lengths and know exactly where the beam is going to go, and what it's going to do.
