Hi everyone!
I'm planning to build my own speakers and wanted to ask for some advice. I really enjoy woodworking, so I'm up for building enclosures myself.
The room where the speakers will go is around 32,6m², and I’ve attached a floor plan. I'd love to get your input on two things:
My budget can go from 200 euros to 800 euros for the pair for the crossovers and drivers.
Would really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions!
Thanks in advance

- Speaker placement : Based on the layout, where would you suggest placing the speakers for the best sound?
- Speaker design : Considering the size of the room, what kind of speaker design would you recommend?
- 2-way or 3-way?
- Bookshelf or floorstanding?
- Any kits or open-source designs you'd suggest for a room this size?
My budget can go from 200 euros to 800 euros for the pair for the crossovers and drivers.

Nice, is there a mirror on the right side of the bookshelf?
This will be difficult except with LS3/5A size speakers, which could sit on the shelves.

Thanks! No, it's the entrance door and a small cupboard.
I'm not considering any large speakers because of the neighbours. 😀
I want to fully dedicate myself to this project, even if it's just for small speakers, as I enjoy woodworking and music.
If you know some DIY projects that are on the range size of the LS3/5A, I'm interested!
I also considered floorstanding speakers on a structure with wheels, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea

In that room, you should rule out large or floor standing speakers. There is just no room for them.
I've had good results from small speakers placed on ear-height shelves of a bookcase,
especially if books are used to fill in the nearby empty spaces in the bookshelves.
There are lots of such designs in kit form, maybe someone will suggest a few that are available in the EU.

Thanks, Rayma! Hopefully one day I'll find the right design and move into a house where the speaker design truly fits. 😆
Without sub, a solution could be bookshelf speaker 3 ways with a 8" in the bookshelf. A speaker can work horizontaly or a center speaker or a studio speaker. Simple and discreet.
