I have purchased two Axiom 300s that look like they have good cones but the paper surround is ripping along the ripples in the surround. It has been repaired poorly before I purchased them and the repairs are failing.
I was thinking about reconing them but cannot find a cone worth using that would be considered a Full range cone.
The original design is a curvelinear cone that is over 3.25 inches high from VC to edge and is lightweight along with an aluminium wire VC. All recone kits available are heavier like the Celestion cones.
Does anyone have any suggestions about whether to recone or replace the surround and where to obtain the impossible dream.
Thanks in Anticipation.

A corrugated cloth surround can be fitted to the type 10/21 cone. This will retain the performance and appearance of the Axiom 300. The cloth spider may also need replacing.
Hi VaNarn,
Thanks for the advice. That is a practical solution.
Do you know if the paper cones are available, I also have a couple of Axiom 200s which needs reconing becuase they were reconed using Celestion guitar cones and have lost the range that the Goodmans were famous for.
Is the 10/21 cone a Pulsonic and who else used them other than Celestion?
Cheers

10/21 is the code number printed on the Goodmans manufactured cone. It is curved profile cone. The guitar cones are straight sided, ribbed cones ( 1205 ).
All Goodmans replacement cones are very rare. To repair the Axiom speakers you will need voice coils, cloth spiders, flexible braid , H.F. cones and dust domes.

If your other speakers are Axiom 201,s originally with the black PVC roll surround; restoration would exceed the cost of just replacing them with second hand units.
Hi VaNarn,
Thanks again for the information.
The other speakers are Axiom 200c's which have the same cone and dimensions etc as the 201's.
Very difficulat to get information on these and if the cost to recone etc was over A$700 it would be best to replace with 2nd hand units.
I remain optimistic and hope full of a solution some where.
