I would like to mod the crossovers of my Focal 1027s. I am a total newbie, so any help would be greatly appreciated. So far, I have removed the crossover and created schematics.
I would like to begin with the tweeter, replacing the caps and possibly the resistor. I don't know anything about choosing parts, so input would be very helpful. I am hoping to make the treble a little smoother and more refined.
Here is the schematic for the tweeter:
TWEETER
And here is a picture of the crossover:
CROSSOVER
Here are the values of the tweeter caps and resistor as they are labelled:
TWEETER
C1 = 3.6J 250V
C2 = 6.8J 250V
R1 = 7W 5.6Ω JF
Thanks for any input.

Forget this idea ! This Focal loudspeaker is a well engineering product. The designers have tools and the skills.
If you don't like your loudspeakers, change them !
I think you will get a better idea by doing a DIY loudspeaker. You begin with a 2 ways.

Why do you want to tweak the crossover? I think this is a bad idea. Manufactures has calculated the crossover better tahn any...
Whay problem do you have with 1027S?

There are cases that changing the xover on Focals is acceptable, like in the Focal Chorus 800 V series, w/too much strength on the tweeter side. (Problem that can be cured with a shoulder pad over the tweeter).
In the case of the Electra series I don't think this is a problem. You can also change Amp or Pre-amp/others that are not so much high frequency happy. "Too much love will kill you". Is difficult to get better speaker in normal circumstances for that sake only, if you have room/set-up that is not the right one for that kind of speakers, but that's another matter.
