Hello,
I manage to grab a Musical Fidelity X PSU for a good price locally. I look the looks of it, and it sounds already pretty good in stock form. Now I'm looking forward to upgrading the cheap wall-wart PSU.
I'm a total newbie, but I imagine an alu case, a trafo and a few other parts. Got a soldering iron and a voltimeter. Everybody says it's a huge upgrade.
Ideas? Explanations with pics, drawings or illustrative links are apreciated. Also some safety instructions
Regards,
Vincula

This seems to fit your requirements www.rock-grotto.co.uk/x-psu.htm
And search this site with "X-LP Mod Journey" .

You need 12 V AC for X-LPS, so a transformer with 12 V output and more amps than original wallwart (which is 500mA) will improve the phono stage. You need only transformer and fuse. I'd choose 25VA transformer or 50VA with two 12 V secondaries if you plan to power another device, such as preamp or headphone amp. It helps if transformer has electrostatic shielding between primary and secondaries.
