I can't believe my daft luck, I have just torn the ribbon cable on the back of my stripped NEC 1510 Panel.
Only 70% of the lcd now works... which is no good to me 🙁
I hope that someone out there has encountered this problem before and fixed it.
Please let me know if this sort of problem is repairable.
p.s.
Thats a white piece of paper on top of the LCD to show where the contacts have broken off.
Thanks.

Here you go,
This pic should, hopefully, clear up any misunderstandings.
When I press the broken contacts of the ribbon to the lcd firmly it is possible to get the picture back, but....
It's almost impossible to affix the ribbon firmly in it's original place as sticky tape doesn't press hard enpough againts the panel to make a decent contact.
The biggest shame is that this screen has a contrast ratio of 350:1 and not a single dead pixel + the money I have wasted spent is a big disapointment... £65 down the drain 🙁 but I guess thats DIY for ya 😛

if you can get a complete picture by applying pressure to the cable what about using 2 bits of thin wood to sandwich and also for mounting. To get uniform contact you could use some thin self adhesive foam stuck to the wood.
edit : just a little diagram to show you what I mean

How did that go?
Just curious if you managed to fix it. Also, I was going to tell you, it is not a total loss. If the remainder of the screen is working, you can play movies in that. if the screen started out SVGA, what you have left is still good enough for movies. I have not torn my connectors but I cannot use part of the screen because my controller boards can't bee moved. It is still enough for good movie playback
