I was playing around with REWv5.01 Beta 10 and had forgot that it did impedance measurements as well.
So, I gave it a try and it too works most excellent!!

I tried it with various reference resistors ranging from 100 ohms to 10kohms and all of the results using my sample resistance of 10ohms and 51ohms were exactly the same no matter what the value range of the reference resistors were.

This was/is an issue while using the SimpleS software.

If the signal goes beyond the dynamic range of the sound card the REW software will give you a warning box that states as such.

This is a revelation as I was questioning the accuracy of SimpleS although it does quite well.

Comparing a test results to a previous test by SimpleS shows that SimpleS is fairly accurate but REW might a bit more by a degree even at a 48Khz sample rate.

I will have more on this later with a closer look at some fresh samples.
The main thing I like better about REW is that it only takes a fraction of the time to do a test as compared to SimpleS.

Cheers!!!

I was trying out the new version of REW V5.01 Beta 13 last night.

I stumbled upon a new feature that I don't recall seeing before in the earlier Beta10 version that I have been using!!

It displays the values of inductance and capacitance along the curve when using the cross hair cursor.

It is displayed in a little box in the bottom left hand corner of the chart.

It also displays some resistance numbers as well and I am not sure but I but think that these are the actual winding resistances of the primary and secondary winding's of the transformer I was testing.

These numbers correspond to what I have measured before with my ohmmeter.
I am not 100% sure about this and I will look into this further.
If this is true, This is amazing data all measured from only the primary winding!!!

The inductance and capacitance values are also right on with this particular unit as compared to those I have measured with the other programs.

The repeatability of the curves using different reference resistor values is 100% !!!
I have used every thing from 50 ohm to 10k ohm for refference resistors and they all produce exactly the same curve as long as the signal is within its dynamic range of accuracy and shows no warning sign of such an error.

Here are a couple screen shots showing the two sets of important data I have found done with one measurement sweep.

Enjoy!!!
