Hello I have a technics stereo integrated tuner amplifier Sa-e10, one of the chanels is intermittent when you turn the amplifier on it works for a moment before cutting out.
I think I have damaged the volume potentiometer as it was crackly and I sprayed it with contact cleaner to sort the issue but might have been abit enthusiastic with the twisting of the pot and damaged the contacts, it's a moterised one and I would like to open it up further and see if I can fix the issue.
I'm struggling to find how to take the front panel off properly, I can see the screws but cant work out much from the service Manuel, can anybody give me a hand and lend some knowledge?
Thanks kieran

You may have to pull off the volume control knob first, it probably is just a friction fit.
Above the volume control, just behind the top edge of the plastic front panel,
there is a metal bracket that snaps into a plastic tab. Lift up the metal bracket gently.
The front panel will likely come right off. There may be one on the bottom edge also.

Yes I've pulled the knob off and did have a go at pulling the front after taking some screws out the bottom and the tab but didn't seem to want to come off, I will try properly again in the morning. I'll take some photos of the screws and tabs that I unclipped and and go from there
Thanks
Kieran
Thanks
Kieran
Both the front panels AND the board behind it come off as a unit.
Those connectors come apart with a firm pull.
Always good to check and re-solder them because they sometimes get loosened solder joints.
Same goes for the main board.
Been there dozens of times with those Technics.

I've pulled the front panel off, it just needed a firm pull. Has anybody got any advice on how to clean the pot properly in case that could be the issue? It says 100k (Ohms) B on the pot and is moterised.
Would my next step to unscrew the screws in the PCB and try get to the front of the potentiometer? Am I right in thinking what I can see on the back is actually the motor part of the potentiometer?
Is this something easy to replace and find replacement parts? Or will cleaning more than likely be the issue?
Ive attached more photos
Thanks again for your help I really do appreciate it and hopefully I can get the amp back up running soon with your help.

I managed to remove the pot I'm going to clean it and have a proper look and try the amp again and try in direct mode see if I still have issues
The amplifier is working fine again after cleaning the pots popperlly with contact cleaner I think just pushed 20 years of gunk around before.
Thanks for the help everyone and sharing your knowledge
Have a nice day
