I have started building a 1000 Watt amp per an article from a French magazine (LED) published back in 1998.
It's all been going well so far, but I now have a few questions that my rather basic skills in electronics have been unable to answer. I hope that you can help:
If you take a look at this schematic, you can see the three outputs for the speakers (Left, Right, and Bridged for when the amp is in bridged mode). Then we have two massive capacitors (C11) of 10000µF/100V.
1. What is the role of these capacitors?
2. When in bridged mode, they don't seem to be connected to the system... Is that normal?
3. I have two capacitors of 22000µF instead of the 10000µF specified. Will they be suitable or will it blow the amp sky high?

Hi,
this amp has unsymetrical power supply maybe. This mean that output is set to 1/2 of PS and those caps you need to protect speaker from DC. Value of 22000 is fine.

Yes. In bridged mode speaker don't see any DC. 1/2PS - 1/2PS=0
