Hello everyone!
I have posted this in the parts thread, but wanted to repost here as well.
I would appreciate some advice regarding my recent decision to modify my speakers.
To start, I had heavily modified Klipsch RF7ii, where I converted ot to an active system. Changed the compression driver to Radian 475pb and added a Fostex T900a supertweeter. Low-mid was crossed at 1khz and mid-high at 7.5 khz. My active crossever is Marchand XM44 3-way crossover. Driving the woofers is my venerable Wyred4sound St1000; mids are driven my Mcintosh MC 275 mk VI 50th; and the supertweeters driven by pair of Opera consanance 800se monoblocks.
I was extremely happy with my system for the last 6 years. This system was really dynamic, at the same time buttery in mids and highs. Now I dropped and broke one if the Fostex. This was a reason for me to try to change things around.
I am thinking of getting rid of the horn and swap it with a conventional midrange driver to cover 300hz to about 3khz. I have already got the tweeters, wich are vintage Pioneer/TAD PT-R7A.
Now trying to decide on a midrange driver that would be good. Based on my research these few days, I am honing on either:
1. Scanspeak 12MU/4731T00
2. Accuton C90-6-724
3. Satori MR13PNW-4.
The mid will be crossed at 250 or 300hz at the low end and 3 or 4khz at the high end, both with 24db slopes.
I would like to get some advice on which of those 3 will be better, and any other drivers that you guys may recommend.
Thank you in advance!
