Hello

Hi!

My name is Axel. I'm new to building speakers. My mates and me are running a small local Reggae sound system. Our selectors have been playing Reggae for a long time but we only got our first speakers two years ago. We have now started building some speakers ourselves.

I'm reading everything I can find about designing loudspeakers. I find that there's a lot to learn for me.

I'm looking forward to being part of this forum.

Best wishes
Axel

Welcome! Since you are just getting started, there are a few things to consider.

First, this is a very deep hobby. You could spend a decade reading, learning, and experimenting and still feel like there is so much more to learn.

Second, look for the simple things/concepts etc. Don't try to cram everything in too fast. As exciting as that can be, a lot of people start with a 100-meter dash and run out of steam. It is about the journey 🙂

Third, a good way to break into it is to find a kit or design that reveals a lot in regards to the theory behind the design. A good one is Nelson Pass's SLOB which is a open baffle. His designs tend to be easy to understand and simple, yet creative in a way that is hard to come up with.

Best of luck. And don't feel afraid to ask questions. So long as you are pleasant, people will jump out of the weeds to help you in any way. Although a lot of people here are very experienced, the goal is to get more people interested in audio 🙂
